87th Off Broadway was a soul group from Seaside, California, formed in the early 1970s. In April 1972, they recorded four songs at Golden State Recorders under the direction of arranger René Hall. These recordings remained unreleased until 2024, when "Instant Replay" was issued by the Soul Harmony label. The group later changed their name to Welfare and in 1977 released the single "What About The Child" under the name Gold on the MRC label. Their music is characterized by rich harmonies and high-quality production, placing them among notable figures in the California soul scene.
