A Far Cry is a Boston-based chamber orchestra known for its collective approach to musical leadership. In 2022, they collaborated with vocalist and composer Shara Nova on "The Blue Hour," a song cycle created in partnership with composers Rachel Grimes, Angélica Negrón, Caroline Shaw, and Sarah Kirkland Snider. Inspired by Carolyn Forché's epic poem "On Earth," the work explores a woman's journey between life and death through various images.
