Amadou & Mariam were a Malian musical duo composed of husband and wife Amadou Bagayoko and Mariam Doumbia. Both lost their sight at a young age and met at the Institute for the Young Blind in Bamako. Their music blended traditional Malian rhythms with elements of rock, blues, and pop. Notable albums include "Dimanche à Bamako" (2004), produced by Manu Chao, and "Welcome to Mali" (2008), which was nominated for a Grammy Award. They collaborated with artists such as Youssou N'Dour and Fally Ipupa. Amadou Bagayoko passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 70.
