Andrés Segovia was a Spanish virtuoso classical guitarist born in Linares, Jaén. His first public performance took place in Granada in 1909. Segovia significantly contributed to the modern romantic repertoire not only through commissioning new works but also by transcribing classical and baroque pieces. His expressive performances and wide tonal palette left a lasting impact on classical guitar. Notable recordings include "Guitar Solos" (1949) and "An Evening With Andres Segovia" (1954).
