Anselmo Sacasas was a Cuban jazz pianist, bandleader, composer, and arranger. Inspired by Cuban tres players like Arsenio Rodríguez, he adapted their techniques to his style as a soloist in orchestras playing Cuban music. In 1936, he met singer Miguelito Valdés, and together they founded the Orquesta Casino de la Playa, which revolutionized the Cuban music scene. In 1940, he moved to New York, where he established his own orchestra in 1941. In 1959, he became the musical director of the Fountainbleu hotel in Miami and later the Tropicoro club. After retiring in 1976, he lived in Miami, where he passed away in 1998.
