Antoine Tamestit is a French violist born in 1979 in Paris. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Jean Sulem, and furthered his studies at Yale University with Jesse Levine and with Tabea Zimmermann. Tamestit is renowned for his technical perfection and the beauty of his tone. His repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music. He premiered several contemporary compositions, including Jörg Widmann's Viola Concerto in 2015 with the Orchestre de Paris under Paavo Järvi.
