Antonello Manacorda is an Italian violinist and conductor born in Turin. He studied violin at the conservatory in his hometown and later continued his studies in Amsterdam. In 1994, Claudio Abbado appointed him concertmaster of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. In 1997, he co-founded the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, serving as concertmaster and vice president. Since 2010, he has been the artistic director of the Kammerakademie Potsdam, with which he has recorded complete cycles of Schubert and Mendelssohn symphonies. In 2024, they released the complete recordings of Beethoven's symphonies. Manacorda has also conducted at leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera House in London.
