Astrud Gilberto was a Brazilian singer who rose to fame in the 1960s with her rendition of "The Girl from Ipanema." Born Astrud Evangelina Weinert in Salvador, Brazil, she grew up in Rio de Janeiro. In 1963, she recorded the album "Getz/Gilberto" with her husband João Gilberto and saxophonist Stan Getz, featuring her debut vocals. This album won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year. Following this success, she released several solo albums, including "The Astrud Gilberto Album" (1965) and "Look to the Rainbow" (1966). Her music blended bossa nova with jazz, influencing many artists. In 2002, she was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame.
