Aziz Shokhakimov is an Uzbek conductor of opera and symphonic music, serving as the music and artistic director of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra since 2021. Born in Tashkent, he made his debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan at the age of 13. In 2010, he secured second place at the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg, leading to collaborations with prominent orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Dresden and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2016, he was awarded the Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award at the Salzburg Festival.
