Barbara, born Monique Andrée Serf, was a French singer-songwriter renowned for her melancholic songs. She began her career in the 1950s performing in Parisian cabarets. Among her most famous songs are "Dis, quand reviendras-tu?" (1962), "Ma plus belle histoire d'amour" (1966), and "L'Aigle noir" (1970). She collaborated with artists such as Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens. In 1988, the French government awarded her the Legion of Honour. She passed away in 1997 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.
