Barren Cross is an American Christian metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The lineup included vocalist Mike Lee, guitarist Ray Parris, bassist Jim LaVerde, and drummer Steve Whitaker. Their second album, "Atomic Arena" (1988), produced by John and Dino Elefante, featured tracks like "Imaginary Music" and "Killers of the Unborn." The 1989 follow-up, "State of Control," continued their heavy metal style with Christian-themed lyrics. The band is noted for addressing social and spiritual issues in their songs and has often been compared to Iron Maiden due to the vocal similarities between Mike Lee and Bruce Dickinson.
