Big Star was an American rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971. The original lineup consisted of Alex Chilton (vocals, guitar), Chris Bell (vocals, guitar), Jody Stephens (drums), and Andy Hummel (bass guitar). The band is recognized as a pioneer of power pop, with albums like "#1 Record" (1972) and "Radio City" (1974) receiving critical acclaim. Despite initial commercial failure, they influenced many later alternative rock bands. After disbanding in 1974, the group reunited in 1993 with new members and released the album "In Space" in 2005.
