Bobby Matos, born in the Bronx, New York, was a prominent Latin jazz percussionist known for his skills on timbales and congas. In 1968, he released the album "My Latin Soul" with The Combo Conquistadores, which became a classic example of the 1960s Nuyorican sound. The album features tracks like "Nadie Baila Como Yo" and "Tema de Alma Latina". Matos was influenced by masters such as Mongo Santamaría and Tito Puente, and his music blended elements of Latin jazz, boogaloo, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. After relocating to Los Angeles, he continued to spread Latin music, inspiring many musicians and fans.
