Candlemass is a Swedish doom metal band formed in 1984 by bassist Leif Edling in Upplands Väsby, a suburb of Stockholm. Their 1986 debut album, "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus," helped define the epic doom metal genre. The band has undergone several lineup changes, with Edling remaining the sole constant member. Notable albums include "Nightfall" (1987), "Ancient Dreams" (1988), and "Tales of Creation" (1989). In 2019, they released "The Door to Doom," featuring guest guitarist Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath.
