Carcass is an English death metal band from Liverpool, formed in 1985. Regarded as pioneers of grindcore and melodic death metal, their early albums like "Reek of Putrefaction" (1988) and "Symphonies of Sickness" (1989) defined the goregrind genre. Their fourth album, "Heartwork" (1993), is considered a landmark in melodic death metal. After disbanding in 1996, they reunited in 2007. Their seventh studio album, "Torn Arteries," was released in 2021. They are known for their medically themed lyrics and influence on the extreme metal scene.
