Chicago Underground Duo is an avant-garde jazz project formed in 1997 in Chicago, consisting of trumpeter Rob Mazurek and drummer Chad Taylor. The duo is known for their experimental approach to jazz, combining elements of free improvisation with electronic sounds. Notable albums include "In Praise of Shadows" (2006), "Synesthesia" (2000), and "Axis and Alignment" (2002). Their music is characterized by innovative use of various instruments and electronics, pushing the boundaries of traditional jazz. Mazurek and Taylor are also members of other formations, such as Chicago Underground Trio and Chicago Underground Quartet.
