Chihei Hatakeyama is a Japanese ambient musician and sound artist born in 1978 in Tokyo. He began his musical career in 2006 with the debut album "Minima Moralia" released under the Kranky label. Hatakeyama is known for his ethereal soundscapes created using electric guitar, vibraphone, and piano, which he records and processes on a computer. Notable works include the albums "Moon Light Reflecting Over Mountains" and "Hachirōgata Lake". In addition to his solo work, he is a member of the electroacoustic duo Opitope with Tomoyoshi Date. In 2013, he founded his own label, White Paddy Mountain, focusing on ambient and experimental music. Hatakeyama regularly performs live, and his work is acclaimed for its ability to evoke deep emotions and atmospheres.
