Claude-Bénigne Balbastre was an 18th-century French composer and organist. Born in Dijon, he was a student of Jean-Philippe Rameau. In 1750, he moved to Paris, where he gained significant fame as an organist, including serving at Notre-Dame de Paris. His works include "Noëls," a collection of organ pieces based on traditional Christmas melodies. Balbastre was renowned for his improvisations and contributed to the popularization of organ music during the Ancien Régime.
