Darcy James Argue is a Canadian jazz composer and bandleader, best known for his 18-piece ensemble, Secret Society. Founded in 2005, the group has released four albums: "Infernal Machines" (2009), "Brooklyn Babylon" (2013), "Real Enemies" (2016), and "Dynamic Maximum Tension" (2023). Each of these albums received Grammy nominations for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album. Argue is recognized for his innovative approach to big band music, blending elements of jazz, rock, and classical music. He has collaborated with artists such as Cécile McLorin Salvant and has received accolades including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Doris Duke Artist Award.
