Dark Sermon was an American blackened death metal band from Tampa, Florida, active between 2009 and 2017. Originally known as In Reference to a Sinking Ship, the band released two studio albums: "In Tongues" (2013) and "The Oracle" (2015). Their music blended elements of blackened death metal, deathcore, and melodic death metal. Throughout their career, they collaborated with labels eOne Music and Nuclear Blast Records and shared stages with bands such as Abiotic, King Conquer, and Fit For An Autopsy. In 2017, they announced an indefinite hiatus, with frontman Johnny Crowder continuing his musical career with a new project, Prison. The products available from the artist Dark Sermon include CDs.
