Darkestrah is a Kyrgyz pagan metal band formed in 1999 in Bishkek. Their music blends elements of black metal with traditional Kyrgyz instruments such as the komuz and kyl-kyak, referencing shamanism and Tengrism. Notable albums include "Sary Oy" (2004), "Epos" (2007), and "Nomad" (2024). The band is known for lengthy, rhythmically complex compositions that often feature several distinct movements. Throughout their career, they have collaborated with various labels, including Osmose Productions. In 2014, original vocalist Kriegtalith departed the band.
