David Lowery is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, known as the founder of the alternative rock bands Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker. Camper Van Beethoven, formed in 1983, is recognized for songs like "Take the Skinheads Bowling" and their cover of "Pictures of Matchstick Men." In 1991, Lowery co-founded Cracker, achieving success with hits such as "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)" and "Low." Beyond his musical career, Lowery is also a producer and educator, lecturing at the University of Georgia. In 2025, he released the solo album "Fathers, Sons and Brothers," combining his previous autobiographical recordings with new tracks.
