Dee Dee Bridgewater is an American jazz singer and actress. She is a three-time Grammy Award winner and has also received a Tony Award for her acting performance. In the 1970s, she was the lead vocalist in the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra and collaborated with artists such as Sonny Rollins and Dizzy Gillespie. Her 1997 album "Dear Ella" won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Bridgewater is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
