Dežo Ursiny was a Slovak musician, composer, and filmmaker. In the 1960s, he was a member of The Beatmen and The Soulmen, bands that combined rock and roll, jazz, and twist. He later pursued a solo career, often collaborating with poet Ivan Štrpka. Notable albums include "Pevnina detstva" (1978) and "Modrý vrch" (1981). He composed music for several films, including the musical "Neberte nám princeznú" (1981). In 1991, he received the ZAI Award for lifetime contribution, and in 2021, he was posthumously awarded the Pribina Cross, 2nd class, for extraordinary services to the cultural development of the Slovak Republic.
