Diego Pinera is a Uruguayan drummer and composer who has resided in Germany since 2003. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in the USA, the University of Music in Havana, and the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. His music blends Latin American rhythms with jazz and improvisation. Notable albums include "My Picture" (2016), "Despertando" (2018), and "Odd Wisdom" (2021). He has collaborated with artists such as Donny McCaslin, Ben Monder, and Scott Colley. In 2017, he received the ECHO Jazz award for "My Picture," and in 2023, he won the German Jazz Prize for Best Arrangement of the Year.
