District 97 is a progressive rock band from Chicago, formed in 2006 by drummer and primary composer Jonathan Schang. Initially an instrumental group, they added vocalist Leslie Hunt, an American Idol finalist, in 2007. Their debut album, "Hybrid Child," was released in 2010, followed by "Trouble With Machines" (2012), "In Vaults" (2015), and "Screens" (2019). In 2013, they collaborated with John Wetton of King Crimson on tours across Europe and the USA. Their music blends elements of progressive rock, metal, and avant-garde jazz.
