Earth is an American rock band from Olympia, Washington, led by guitarist Dylan Carlson. The band was active from 1989 to 1997 and again from 2003 to the present. Their 1993 debut album, "Earth 2: Special Low-Frequency Version," is considered a pioneering work of the drone metal genre. Later albums, such as "Hex; Or Printing in the Infernal Method" (2005) and "The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull" (2008), show a shift toward a less distorted sound with elements of country and jazz.
