Eddie Boyd was a blues pianist, singer, and songwriter who gained prominence on the Chicago scene during the 1940s and 1950s. Born on the same Mississippi plantation as Muddy Waters and a half-brother to Memphis Slim, he moved to Chicago in 1941, working in steel mills while pursuing his music career. Boyd recorded for various labels, including RCA, Regal, J.O.B., Herald, and Chess. His song "Five Long Years" reached number one on the R&B chart in 1952. In the 1960s, he participated in the American Folk Blues Festivals in Europe.
