Elaine Brown is an American singer, songwriter, and activist known for her involvement with the Black Panther Party. In 1969, she released the album "Seize the Time," featuring politically charged songs, including the Black Panther Party anthem "The Meeting." The album was recorded in collaboration with jazz musician Horace Tapscott and his Pan-Afrikan Peoples Arkestra. In 1974, Brown was appointed chairwoman of the Black Panther Party, becoming the only woman to lead the organization.
