Emel Mathlouthi is a Tunisian singer and producer known for her protest song "Kelmti Horra" ("My Word is Free"), which became an anthem for the Tunisian revolution and the Arab Spring. Her debut album "Kelmti Horra" was released in 2012, blending Arabic roots with Western influences. In 2017, she released "Ensen," mixing electronica with classical music. This was followed by "Everywhere We Looked Was Burning" in 2019, where she sang predominantly in English. In 2020, during quarantine, she recorded the double album "The Tunis Diaries" in her childhood home in Tunis, using only an acoustic guitar and her voice.
