Ensemble Modern is an international ensemble founded in 1980, specializing in the performance of contemporary music. Based in Frankfurt am Main, it comprises approximately 20 soloists from various countries. The ensemble is known for its democratic organization without an artistic director, with all decisions made collectively. Their repertoire includes music theater, chamber music, and orchestral concerts. Ensemble Modern regularly collaborates with prominent composers such as John Adams, George Benjamin, and Steve Reich. Annually, they perform around 100 concerts and premiere about 20 new works.
