Ernie Henry was an American jazz saxophonist born on September 3, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York. Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable musicians such as Tadd Dameron, Fats Navarro, Charlie Ventura, Max Roach, and Dizzy Gillespie. Between 1956 and 1957, he recorded three albums for the Riverside label: "Presenting Ernie Henry," "Seven Standards and a Blues," and "Last Chorus." His saxophone playing was influenced by Charlie Parker, yet he developed his own distinctive style. Henry passed away on December 29, 1957, at the age of 31.
