Frank Peter Zimmermann is a German violinist regarded as one of the leading violinists of his generation. Born in 1965 in Duisburg, he began playing the violin at the age of 5. He studied with Valery Gradov, Saschko Gawriloff, and Herman Krebbers. Throughout his career, he has performed with all major orchestras worldwide, including the Vienna Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. His discography includes recordings of nearly all major violin concertos from Bach to Ligeti. In 2010, he founded the Trio Zimmermann with violist Antoine Tamestit and cellist Christian Poltéra. He plays the 1711 Antonio Stradivari "Lady Inchiquin" violin, kindly provided by the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf.
