Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers was an American vocal group formed in 1954 in New York City. The group consisted of Frankie Lymon, Herman Santiago, Jimmy Merchant, Joe Negroni, and Sherman Garnes. Their 1956 debut single, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," became a major hit, reaching number one on the R&B chart and number six on the pop chart. The group was known for their doo-wop style and influence on later musical acts such as The Jackson 5. After Lymon's departure in 1957, the group disbanded.
