Franz Krommer was a Czech composer and violinist active during the Classical period. Born in Kamenice near Jihlava, he later moved to Vienna, where he became the court composer for the Austrian imperial court. His oeuvre includes over 300 works, encompassing symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. Krommer is particularly renowned for his clarinet and double clarinet concertos, which remain part of the concert repertoire today.
