In 1972, he won a Grammy Award for his score for the film "Last Tango in Paris". Notable albums include "Fenix" (1971), "Caliente!" (1976), and "Chapter One: Latin America" (1973). Barbieri collaborated with artists such as Don Cherry and Charlie Haden. His music blends jazz elements with Latin American rhythms, creating a distinctive sound.
