Indigenous is an American blues rock band formed in 1998 in Marty, South Dakota. Originally composed of brothers Mato Nanji (vocals and guitar) and Pte (bass guitar), their sister Wanbdi (drums, vocals), and cousin Horse (percussion), the band's music is influenced by artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Carlos Santana. Their 1998 debut album, "Things We Do," won three Native American Music Awards, including Album of the Year and Group of the Year. Subsequent albums such as "Circle" (2000) and "Chasing the Sun" (2006) solidified their presence in the blues scene. In 2017, they released "Gray Skies." The band is known for energetic performances and an authentic sound that blends traditional blues with modern elements.
