James Francies is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, composer, and arranger. He grew up in Houston, where he began playing piano at the age of five and later attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. After receiving a full scholarship, he continued his studies at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. Francies has collaborated with artists such as Pat Metheny, Chris Potter, The Roots, and Childish Gambino. He has released two albums under Blue Note Records: "Flight" (2018) and "Purest Form" (2021). His music blends jazz with elements of hip-hop and R&B.
