Jean-Guihen Queyras is a French cellist renowned for his versatility and interpretation of a broad repertoire. He was a soloist with the Ensemble Intercontemporain under Pierre Boulez, with whom he closely collaborated. His discography includes recordings of works ranging from Bach to contemporary composers like Ligeti and Dutilleux. Queyras has premiered works by composers such as Ivan Fedele and Bruno Mantovani. He is a founding member of the Arcanto Quartet and regularly collaborates with Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov. He serves as a professor at the Musikhochschule Freiburg and is the artistic director of the Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence festival. He plays a 1696 cello by Gioffredo Cappa, loaned to him by Société Générale.
