Jeff Parker is an American guitarist and composer known for his work in jazz, experimental music, and post-rock genres. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and raised in Hampton, Virginia, he studied at Berklee College of Music before moving to Chicago in 1991. Parker has been a member of the post-rock group Tortoise since 1996 and was a founding member of Isotope 217 and the Chicago Underground Trio. As a solo artist, he has released several albums, including 'The New Breed' (2016), 'Suite for Max Brown' (2020), and 'Forfolks' (2021). His music often blends elements of jazz, electronics, and improvisation. Parker is also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) and has collaborated with artists such as George Lewis, Ernest Dawkins, and Meshell Ndegeocello.
