James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American singer, songwriter, and poet, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors. He co-founded the band in 1965 with keyboardist Ray Manzarek. The Doors released six studio albums, including "The Doors" (1967) and "L.A. Woman" (1971). Morrison was known for his poetic lyrics and charismatic performances. In 1971, he moved to Paris, where he died of heart failure. His grave at Père-Lachaise Cemetery has become a pilgrimage site for fans.
