Joe Cuba was an American percussionist and bandleader, known as the "Father of Boogaloo". Born in New York, he formed the Joe Cuba Sextet in the 1950s, blending Latin rhythms with jazz and R&B. Their 1962 album "Steppin' Out" featured the hit "To Be With You". In 1966, they achieved success with "Bang! Bang!" from the album "Bang! Bang! Push, Push, Push", which became a boogaloo anthem. Joe Cuba was a pioneer in integrating English lyrics into Latin music, reaching a broader audience. His contributions to Latin music are still recognized today.
