John Doan is an American guitarist and composer, renowned for his mastery of the rare 20-string harp guitar. Born in 1951 in Santa Monica, California, he began playing guitar at the age of eleven. During his studies at California State University, Northridge, he was introduced to classical guitar and later specialized in the harp guitar. His 1997 album "Eire: Isle of the Saints" was awarded "Best Celtic Album of the Year." Doan is also known for his television specials and his role as a professor at Willamette University in Oregon.
