John Nelson is an American conductor renowned for his interpretations of works by Hector Berlioz and George Frideric Handel. In November 2022, he conducted Handel's "Messiah" at Coventry Cathedral, collaborating with The English Concert and its choir. This live performance was released in November 2023 as a 2CD and DVD set under the Erato label. Nelson's version of "Messiah" reflects the evolution of the piece from its original 1741 manuscript to the standard version of the 1750s.
