Johnny Griffin was an American jazz tenor saxophonist, known for his fast playing and technical proficiency. In 1956, he released his debut album "Introducing Johnny Griffin" under the Blue Note label. His notable albums include "A Blowin' Session" (1957) and "The Congregation" (1958). Griffin frequently collaborated with Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, recording several albums together. In 1964, he performed at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, where the album "Live at Ronnie Scott's 1964" was recorded. His music is characteristic of the hard bop style.
