Johnny Horton was an American singer and songwriter known for his historical country songs. His 1959 single "The Battle of New Orleans" won the Grammy Award for Best Country & Western Recording. Other notable songs include "When It's Springtime in Alaska (It's Forty Below)", "Sink the Bismarck", and "North to Alaska". Horton was a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
