Jordi Savall is a Spanish musician and conductor known for his work in early music. In 1974, he co-founded the ensemble Hespèrion XXI, followed by La Capella Reial de Catalunya in 1987 and Le Concert des Nations in 1989. He has recorded over 230 albums focusing on medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical music, with a special emphasis on Hispanic and Mediterranean musical heritage. His work has earned him awards such as the Midem Classical Award, International Classical Music Award, and a Grammy. In 2008, he was appointed European Union Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and, together with Montserrat Figueras, was named an "Artist for Peace" under UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors program.
