José Serebrier is a Uruguayan conductor and composer, born in 1938 in Montevideo. He began his conducting career at the age of eleven. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and under Aaron Copland at Tanglewood. Serebrier is known for his recordings of Antonín Dvořák's symphonies with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, which have been highly praised for their expressivity and orchestral balance. Throughout his career, he has received 37 Grammy nominations and won 8. His musical style is energetic and melodic, with his works published mainly by Peermusic.
