The Juli Wood Quartet is a jazz ensemble led by Chicago-based saxophonist Juli Wood. In 2015, they released the album "Synkkä Metsä (Dark Forest)", featuring jazz interpretations of traditional Finnish folk songs. The album was recorded at ProMusica studio in Chicago and released under the OA2 Records label. The quartet comprises Juli Wood on tenor saxophone, Alejandro Urzagaste on guitar, Clark Sommers on bass guitar, and Mike Schlick on drums. The album includes eight tracks, such as "Lapin äidin Kehto Laulu" and "Taivas on Sininen ja Valkoinen". This project was inspired by Art Farmer's 1964 album "To Sweden With Love".
