Kava Kon is a musical duo from Detroit, Michigan, consisting of Nels Truesdell and Bob Kress. Formed in 2004 as an escape from urban decay, they blend elements of exotica, electronica, tiki lounge, and cinematic soundscapes. Their debut album, "Departure Exotica," was released in 2005, followed by "Tiki for the Atomic Age" in 2009 and "Maritime Mysteries" in 2016. Kava Kon's music is influenced by exotica records from the 1950s and 60s, retro sci-fi films, and Jamaican dub.
